True self-care is not salt baths and chocolate cake; it is making the choice to build a life you don't need to regularly escape from.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is mindset coaching, and how is it different from life coaching?
Mindset coaching focuses specifically on the thought patterns, beliefs and habits that shape how you approach your life, work and relationships. Rather than giving advice or telling you what to do, I help you uncover what is really holding you back and guide you to find your own solutions — drawing on techniques including REBT (Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy) and neuroscience-based approaches.
Do I need a specific goal before starting coaching?
Not at all. Many clients come to me with a clear goal in mind — a promotion, a career change, more confidence — while others simply feel something isn't right and aren't sure why. Coaching can help you find clarity even before you know exactly what you're working towards. You can read here on some examples of common coaching goals my clients successfully worked on.
Do you work with academics and researchers specifically?
Yes — alongside general mindset coaching, I offer specialist coaching for academics and researchers facing pressures like REF deadlines, perfectionism, imposter syndrome and writer's block, drawing on over twenty years of experience in higher education myself.
What happens in a free initial consultation?
The free initial consultation is a no-obligation conversation where we talk through what's bringing you to coaching, what you'd like to achieve, and how we might work together. It's a chance for you to ask questions and for me to understand whether I'm the right coach for you.
How many sessions will I need, and how often?
Every client's journey is different — some clients see meaningful change in just a handful of sessions, while others prefer ongoing support over several months. It depends on your goal(s), the time and energy you put into implementing your plans and, of course, your commitment.
In cases of smaller and already clearly defined goals, one coaching session can be enough to develop a clear action plan. In general, however, for new thought and behaviour patterns to become established, the time between sessions is as essential as the coaching session itself.
We'll agree on a structure that suits your goals and pace.
Do sessions take place online or in person?
I coach both via Zoom and face-to-face in the beautiful practice rooms in the centre of Salisbury. Both in person and online meetings work very well, as long as interruptions and external distractions can be avoided.
How much does coaching cost?
Pricing depends on the format and length of engagement — get in touch for current rates.
Is mindset coaching the same as therapy?
No. Coaching is forward-focused and centres on helping you move toward goals and unlock your potential, rather than treating mental health conditions. If you're dealing with a clinical issue, a qualified therapist or counsellor may be more appropriate.
Is what I share in coaching confidential?
Yes. Everything you share in our sessions is treated as strictly confidential. The only exceptions are situations where I have a legal or ethical duty to act — for example, if there's a risk of serious harm to you or someone else.
